Inclusive entrepreneurship can help
close the racial wealth gap
Our Beginning
About Us - Our Story

The Foundation for Business Equity was created to help address the widening income and wealth gap in Greater Boston, experienced most acutely by Black and Latinx communities. We focus on scaling businesses of color to create greater wealth creation for business owners and key principals and create more jobs with family-sustaining wages in our urban communities. Eastern Bank was the founding funder of the Foundation for Business Equity (FBE) and made a $10 million grant over three years to launch the Foundation. As of October 2022, FBE merged with Mill Cities Community Investments.

Leadership with lived experience matters

Our leaders are entrepreneurs themselves. We know the “minority” small business space because we live it.  This gives us unique insight into the small business ecosystem we are transforming.
